Like many who strive to find their life's calling, my journey to be a naturopathic physician has been a long and winding road. My father was diagnosed with cancer and given a prognosis of 6 months to live when I was very young. With a careful orchestration of conventional treatment, nutrition modification, and other "alternative" treatments, he was able to live much longer than predicted. I suppose my interest and belief in the power of these alternative therapies started at that point. I eventually went to college at Indiana University, majoring in Chemistry. I knew I wanted to be a naturopath, but deferred attendance in naturopathic school because others around me convinced me that alternative medicine was a passing fad. Boy, were they wrong! After college, I moved on to Michigan State University to complete graduate work in forensic science/criminal justice. Realizing that the field wasn't a perfect match for me, I moved on to work for a company that produced vaccines- while I rediscovered my true passion of naturopathic medicine. After a few years, I finally decided it was time to go back to school and do what I really want to do. I completed my medical education at The National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM), where I graduated with highest academic honors. After graduation, I completed a two year residency in Primary Care/Family Practice at the same institution. I remained involved with the college the following year, teaching clinical thinking skills and hydrotherapy to medical students. Having recently relocated to New England from Portland, I am excited to be living and practicing in this beautiful area of the country.
I currently practice in Providence, Rhode Island with a wonderful group of like minded professionals. For location or contact information, click here.
In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family and explore my relatively new New England surroundings. I also enjoy white water rafting, hiking, cooking good food and creating stained glass art panels.
